Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith is located in the city of Chennai, the capital of the state Tamilnadu, in India. The city was formerly known as Madras and was renamed Chennai. The climate is generally hot and humid. In summer (May - July) the temperature reaches up to 42° C (107° F) while in winter (Dec. - Feb.) it is slightly less hot, 18° C (64° F). The Monsoon season starts in September and lasts till November.
The Vidyapith is situated near the corner where P.S. Sivasami Road and Oliver Road meet, and is adjacent to Ramakrishna Mission Students' Home, an orphanage run by the Ramakrishna Mission.
The campus spread over 14 acres with vast buildings having a built up area of more than 18000 sqmts. It is well-connected by buses and metro railway (Thirumylai Station).
The campus is around 5 km from the Chennai Central Railway Station and 4 km from the Chennai Egmore Railway Station. Mylapore Tank is the nearest bus terminus to the campus.
The campus has a prayer hall with statue of Saraswathi Devi and photos of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other saints. The prayer hall is used to conduct prayers in the mornings and evenings and enriches the spiritual atmosphere of the campus.
The campus has a canteen that works from 8.00am to 5.30 pm and provides north-indian and south-indian dishes.
The campus has a few modest guest rooms to accomodate male visitors. There is also a Maintenance Department which caters to the day to day maintenance of the campus.
