Admission for M.Sc.(IT)

Applications for M.Sc.(IT) are available from 10.30am to 7.45pm in the Evening College Office. Eligibility: B.Sc. with Mathematics, B.Sc. (CS), B.C.A., or B.Sc. ( Physics / Chemistry ) with Mathematics as the allied subject. Cost of the application form is Rs.100/-.

Eligibility requirements for admission

  1. Those who have passed the H.S.C. or an equivalent examination with Accountancy and Commerce are eligible for admission into the first year of the three year Degree B.Com.(General), B.Com.(A&F), B.Com.(BM) or B.Com.(CS) course.
  2. Applicants for B.B.A. degree course should have passed the H.S.C. or an equivalent examination.
  3. Applicants for B.C.A. or B.Sc. (CS) degree course should have passed the H.S.C. or an equivalent examination with Mathematics / Computer Science.
  4. Applicants for B.Sc. (BC) degree course should have passed the H.S.C. or an equivalent examination with Biology.
  5. Applicants for M.Sc. (IT) course should have passed B.Sc. with Mathematics, B.Sc. (CS), B.C.A., or B.Sc. ( Physics / Chemistry ) with Mathematics as the allied subject.

Rules for admission and withdrawal

  1. Candidates for admission to the first year course should have passed the qualifying examination accepted by the Syndicate. Every candidate for admission should present his transfer certificate from the school or college, which he last attended. Application for admission from private candidates will be entertained only if they are accompanied by eligibility certificate from the University of Madras.
  2. candidates who are admitted on the basis of qualifications of other Universities or bodies should fully satisfy all the prescribed conditions and such admissions are subject to recognition and confirmation by the University of Madras. The provisional admission is at the risk of the candidate.
  3. Students who are found to have obtained admission by false representations or fake certificates will be summarily dismissed with forfeiture of all fees paid.
  4. No student will be enrolled or permitted to attend classes until the fees due from him have been paid. This will be strictly adhered to.
  5. The student must keep the fee receipts carefully and must produce them whenever required.
  6. Collection of the fees due to the College will not be suspended just because the award of scholarship is expected from some agency and late payment of fees will necessarily incur a fine.
  7. All enquires by the students to the office will be attended to before the class hours. Students are advised not to come to the office for enquires during class hours.

Rules for payment of fees

Annual fees should be paid at the Indian Bank. Application for the extension of time for the payment of fees will neither be acknowledged nor entertained. Failure to pay the fee by the due date will lead to forfeiture of the seat.

Other fees to be paid and rules regarding the payment of fee:-

    1. A recognition fee of Rs.100/- from Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary students and Rs.200/- from others.
    2. Matriculation fee of Rs.30/-.
    3. University registration fee of Rs.80/-.
    4. Verification of certificate fee Rs.5/-, University sports fee Rs.60/-, Library fee Rs.60/-, Cultural and Youth festival fee Rs.30/-, and Development of infrastructural facilities fee Rs.30/-.
    5. Admission Fee (1st semester) of Rs.500/-.
    1. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance.
    2. A student leaving after joining the course will have to pay the fee for the entire course duration.
    3. Any student who is absent for the first five working days after admission will forfeit his seat. He will have to pay the entire course fee (2 or 3 years as the case may be) if he applies for T.C.
  1. Fees is payable within ten days from the date of reopening of the college. Failure to remit the fee before the due date shall attract a fine of Rs.100/- for every week of default.
  2. If a student fails to pay the annual fee within 30 days of the reopening date, his name will be struck off the rolls. If readmitted, he should pay in addition to fee and fine, a readmission fee of Rs.1000/-.
  3. Absence from the college, wheather with leave or without leave, forms no ground for exemption from the operation of the above rules.

General code of conduct

  1. The students of the College are to conduct themselves on and off the College premises in such a way as to maintain the good name of the College as well as their own.
  2. Every student shall salute the members of the teaching staff on the occasion of his first meeting them for the day within the College.
  3. When a staff member enters the classroom, students will rise and remain standing till he takes his seat.
  4. No student will leave his classroom without permission or until the teacher instructs the class to disperse.
  5. Studetns are advised to cultivate the habit of reading notices posted on the College notice boards. Ignorence of any notice thus posted will not be accepted as an excuse for failing to comply with it.
  6. Smoking in the precints of the College or Hostel, spitting, throwing waste paper or rubbish except in the receptacles provided for the purpose, are prohibited.
  7. While moving froom one class room to another or while dispersing from a class, students should avoid making noise.
  8. Loitering or collecting in groups anywhere within the College campus is strictly prohibited.
  9. When students are free they are expected to engage themselves silently in study or other useful pursuits.
  10. The students should park their vehicles only in the places earmarked for them. The College will not take any responsibility for the loss of any vehicle.
  11. No student shall enter the College Office, unless expressly permitted.
  12. Studetns are forbidden from joining any organisation or conducting any meeting in the College or collecting money for any purpose without the express permission of the Principal.
  13. Under the Tamil Nadu Government Educational Rules, the Principal is empowered to inflict fine, withhold attendance certificate, suspend and expel a student, if considered necessary.
  14. Ragging is strictly prohibited and is punishable by imprisonment.
  15. The students should be decently dressed. T-shirts and gaudy dresses are prohibited.
  16. Students are not supposed to use cellphone, pager etc. in the College premises.
  17. The students are responsible for the equipments / facilities provided in the class room. In case of damage to the property a collective fine will be levied for the entire class.
  18. The day scholars should not enter the Hostel area for any purpose.

Attendance and Leave of Absence

  1. No student shall absent himself from the college without leave. Application for leave must be made beforehand to the Principal through the Head of the Department. When the absence is due to unforeseen causes an application for leave must be submitted as soon as possible and in no case, later than the first day of his return to the College. Leave applied for in time will ordinarily be granted when proper reasons are given, but in case of sickness exceeding three days, the Principal or HOD may insist on the production of a Medical Certificate.
  2. Application for leave from a student should be counter signed by the parent or guardian and that from the Hostel student by the Warden.
  3. If a student absents himself for five working days without leave, his name will be struck off the rolls, unless he can show that his failure to obtain leave was unavoidable.
  4. Attendance will be taken during every hour of the day. Students coming late are liable to be fined.
  5. The admission to Autonomous Examinations will in no case be granted unless (1) the HOD is satisfied with the performance of the student, and (2) the student has attended not less than three-fourths of the number of working days/hours (75%) in the academic year.
