[Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College (Autonomous)]

The advent of Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa is the starting point of the renaissance in India. swami Vivekananda, the illustrious disciple of sri Ramakrishna, gave the first impetus to it by starting the Ramakrishna Mission in 1897. The Math and the Mission are endevouring to realise its aims through its centres numbering over one hundred and sixty six in India and abroad.

The Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College occupies a place of prominence among the educational activities of the Mission in India. It was formally opened on 21st June 1946. To cope with the demand, an Evening college offering various programmes under unaided pattern was opened in 1974 under the auspices of the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith.

The day and evening colleges are affiliated to the University of Madras and offer instruction in English medium upto Post-Graduate courses and admit only men students. The college has been accredited by the National Assesment and Accreditation Council. The UGC granted autonomy to this institution from the academic year 2004-2005 for all the courses affiliated to the University of Madras.

The college has made a name for itself in the realm of higher education. It has carved out a niche in the hearts of the people of Chennai which can be witnessed at the commencement of every academic year.

The Evening College offers eight UG programmes and two PG programmes under autonomous mode.
