The Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College occupies a place of pre-eminence among the educational activities of the Mission in India. It was formally opened on 21st June 1946. It is affiliated to the prestigious University of Madras. It is accredited with NAAC and is one of the best colleges for men in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The National Conference is dedicated to retired and retiring teachers of our Physics Department. Their sincere service and constructive efforts to build up the Department of Physics and the College will always be remembered with love and gratitude.
This interdisciplinary programme integrates principles from biology, computer science, enabling participants to understand and utilize computational tools for analyzing complex biological data sets. Topics covered include sequence alignment, protein structure prediction, genomics, and data mining techniques.
Through hands-on training and real-world applications, students will learn how to leverage bioinformatics in research, drug discovery, and personalized medicine. By the end of the course, participants will be well-prepared to tackle contemporary challenges in bioinformatics and contribute meaningfully to advancements in biotechnology and life sciences.
The Department of Physics with its excellent infrastructural and laboratory facilities and well qualified staff, is offering UG, PG and Ph.D. courses. Taking advantage of the autonomy granted to the college and in cognizance of the emerging trends in Physics research and education, the department has been introducing new courses catering to the academic and employment aspirations of its students. With financial assistance, the department has added FT-IR Spectrometer, Electrochemical work station Nano particle production to foster in-house research. It has entered into partnership (MOUs) with premier institutes of facilitate information interchange among the students, scholars and staff. The Physics Department Associates to the variegated interest of the students, strengthening their knowledge base and building in them leadership qualities..
Indian SpectroPhysics Association (ISPA) is a brain child of Veteran Professor and Scientist,Dr. S. Gunasekaran. ISPA was started on April 23, 1998, it is a registered society under whose auspices, conferences, workshops and seminars are organized. ISPA is the peak of a strong belief that enlightening young minds and empowering them to pursue research through Spectroscopy. ISPA has an enviable record of having organized 16 International conferences and 18 National Conferences. ISPA also has organized 20 State Level Technical Seminars in Physical Sciences for PG and M.Phil. students, since 1999. Indian SpectroPhysics Association (ISPA) finds its place in encouraging renowned and young scientists by honouring them with ISPA Awards in the recognition of the research findings of the scientists. 15 Veteran scientist Awards, 54 Life Time Achievement Awards, 84 ISPA Dr. S. Gunasekaran Awards, Dr. S. Mohan Awards, are given to researchers who have made excellent contributions in the field of Research, during Conferences/ Seminars organized by ISPA. An international consortium has been made with the Medical University of Sofia for a tune of 1000 crore for a research project., Visit www.ispa.org.in for more details.
