The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a program organised by the Ministry of Education and Youth Service to afford opportunities and training in service to the community and to the nation, for students with an aptitude.
The NSS units conduct various programmes in the nearby villages some of which are the wasteland development and water shed management, preparing youth for a healthy society, education projects, adult education, road laying project, first aid training, well-cleaning projects, gardening projects and many others.
Each student attending the NSS will be required to put in 120 hours of service activity each academic year and he will be expected to maintain a diary showing details of his participation duly countersigned by the Programme Organizer.
Certificates will be issued to deserving members on the completion of their two-year term. Members are expected to participate in all the training programmes and work camps organised from time to time.
